Is my school a B? Or a D? I’m confused! (great perspective on the DOE’s grading system from Insideschools.org)
PS 243 in Brooklyn got a big green B on its Progress Report which seems good. But right next to it is a mustard-colored D which seems not so good. gifted & talented 2013 (Joyce Szuflita from NYCschoolhelp.com keeps up to date on G & T testing)
It should be that time of year, but its not. Last year at this time families were busily filling out their online gifted and talented “Request for Testing” forms. This year the DoE is a bit late. This is the page you need to watch. Registration should be up shortly in “mid October”. You will likely have a few weeks to sign up but don’t miss the deadline when it is set! Make sure to get a testing date and a confirmation. The test dates are usually in Jan. and Feb. Read more here.

The seats are open because some kids who enrolled didn’t show up in September. Read more here.
ch-ch-ch-ch-changes in district 15 for fall of 2013 (Joyce Szuflita from NYCschoolhelp.com reports on some changes)
We have been waiting for word on several changes that are expected to land on the neighborhoods (particularly Park Slope) before the new year. It appears that the DoE is flying some trial balloons. Let me stress that nothing is set in stone yet! This should be decided by Jan. of 2013. Read more here.
