He does family and children portraiture.
Check out his Children portfolio- he uses some creative, unique poses and angles. I like the environmental portraits the best where you can see the kids’ personalities really let go. He incorporates brownstone Brooklyn nicely in some of the images too. You have to check out his Underwater series of maternity images- fabulously surreal.

One of her children’s portraits won an honorable mention in the PX3 photo competition- an prestigious international competition based in Paris.
Her images are unique- they feel natural, sweet and nostalgic. However, nostalgic for a feeling, not a time. Each image has a strong narrative quality that doesn’t feel constructed or imposed, but rather, documentary. Some of the images show film edges, vignetting and the technical limitations and strengths of the equipment she uses. All of this results in images that are art- something akin to Sally Mann and Justine Kurland, and yet very much her own.

These are very quirky images of families that give you a peek into the goofiness and fun of family life. They remind me of a slowed down film moment: funny expressions, closed eyes, adoring looks and pure happy smiles.

I particularly like his “School” portfolio- clean, crisp backgrounds with sparkling light. This series of his might seem a little commercial to some, but I love the concept. Other portraits are nice, extreme close-ups.

You will love her color saturated images that are full of movement, laughter and energy. Often, her work has a narrative feel, that makes you think you are just catching a frame of a life. She makes a “place” for the portraits rather than just using a studio by using props, cool angles, styled looks and the simplicity of a rug or chair. Really beautiful work.

Charcoal Portraits. For an image: check out this post. Abbey studied at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston- a very good institution. She can do the portraits from life or photos (and if you need a good photo to work from she can do the photo for you). Prices start at $750 for an 11″ x 14″.
Personally, I love her portraits. The subjects feel very present and you get a sense of their personality at that moment that she captured them. She has real talent. To see images check the other listing for her here.

Doug Todd Photography

347.633.1732
For over 20 years Doug has been working to capture photographic moments in life. His sensitivity to detail in combination with his love for the spirit found in his subjects have led him to a successful career in photography. Doug utilizes his training as a Marriage and Family Therapist to assist in achieving a rapport with the individuals he encounters. The results are natural looking images, from a shoot that is easy going and sensitive to the needs of his subjects.
Doug has a really nice touch with light. He uses strong rim light to make his subjects “light up” and the effect is natural. He is particularly adept at environmental portraits: he makes use of the locale to contextualize the subjects. It all feels natural. What you notice is everyone is smiling in his photos (and naturally, too), so you can tell he creates a level of comfort on a photo shoot.

Cyndy Warwick and Sheila Brown blend fashion and fine art with a documentary style to photograph families and weddings. You can use them individually or as a team -check out their individual work under “weddings”. To see family images, look under “junior”. They have really nice, clean and classic work. There is a breezy and happy feeling to their portraits of kids. I can’t imagine how they manage to get such great portraits of 6 children or more in their images- but they do.

Justine, a fine artist with gallery representation in Chelsea, also photographs children. Her work is wonderful: intimate, casually posed and just plain lovely. She has a great eye for details, angles and for capturing a moment. She has varied packages that seem to fit any need you might have.
