Spotted: a mom who makes everything “kid” and “baby”
“Spotted!”, our biweekly photo look at a family, has been re-vamped for fall! Justine Cooper is the amazing photographer who shoots this feature for us. For fall, Justine is looking for families that personify a unique look in both who they are and how they live. If you are interested in being photographed for this segment, please email us.
I spotted Hedvig Bourbon and her 3 children – Lucas, Charlotte and Leo, in a Boerum Hill community garden last week with just the best neckwear I’ve seen in a long time. I have a long neck, so I notice these things! I tagged a along to find out about the scarves, the family, plus do a little treasure hunting along the way.
I asked Hedvig, a Norwegian native what her aesthetic priorities are. Answer: color, feminine feel, and craft. She put to work that craft-love 6 years ago by making diaper bags and other baby necessities.
Lucas and Charlotte both have Hedvig’s handmade neck scarves on. You can get your own through http://www.etsy.com/shop/petitenyc
As if we weren’t all toting enough stuff, along the way the whole family conspires to get a prized street find (aka kid’s kitchen) back home. Lucas’ skateboard came in handy!
Baby Leo loves the appliques on her diaper/wipes pouch, made by Hedvig.
My two kids and her three kids took a stroll in the neighborhood. Well Hedvig, Leo and I took a stroll, while Charlotte gets the best of the boys in the battle of scooters v. bicycles.
