Urban Kids Gone Country at Free Camps
Calling all city kids who want to get their hands dirty! Do some digging, planting and learn to become an urban gardener with some wonderful free programs at some of Brooklyn’s finest green homes.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden Summer Discovery Workshops
Tuesdays July 3–August 21 | Drop in 1:30–3:30 p.m.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden offers free workshops at the Garden where children can participate in hands-on activities like planting carrots, caring for plants and even get to go on scavenger hunts. Storytime is also included – and all stories have a reference to the natural world of course. Each week, young urban gardeners will explore a different nature theme and then create their own windowsill planting or nature craft to green up their home or neighborhood.
Note: Canceled in rain or heat of 95°F or above.
