Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is a memorable event for kids- but imagine their excitement when doing it with hundreds to promote healthy living and public access to affordable locally grown food. Join Let’s Move! Brooklyn, Wholesome Wave and NYC Gets Fresh! for a community health walk and Farm To Table Restaurant Week. This Saturday, the Health Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge is followed by free music from DJ Reborn, special guest speakers and food for purchase from 12-3pm

The walk kicks off NYC Gets Fresh! week where dozens of restaurants that source from local farmers, like Ted & Honey and applewood will participate in the activities. Wholesome Wave is a national nonprofit, founded by James Beard award-winning chef Michel Nischan, that helps underserved communities gain access to fresh locally grown food at affordable prices.

The week will culminate with Chop It Up, the ultimate food fight – a poetry slam of celebrity chefs and farmers – on August 26, 2012 at BAM.  The evening will include live music, a chef poetry slam contest and more. Details and tickets are here.
