There’s a new studio in town; Burton Wells founded by photographer Kate Burton and media executive Katherine Wells, is a photography studio and store that specializes in hand-printed portraiture. Their standard sitting fee is $350 but they are doing a 20% special until Fathers Day (June 20th). All photo shoots include one roll of black and white film, and prints (an additional fee) are handmade in their darkroom. Clients can add more film to their session or choose to shoot in digital. Portrait shoots take place in their studio, which recalls a traditional neighborhood photographer’s storefront or in the studio’s backyard space, and on location.
Inspired by the Henri Cartier-Bresson exhibit (now on at the MoMA), Sarah Sloboda Photography is offering distinctive photojournalism-inspired portrait packages, which includes a custom 11×14 print. Sarah will capture your family or your little ones in the location of your choice, providing an online gallery of approximately 50 environmental portraits from which to choose. (You may also order smaller prints and downloads directly through the site.) Black and white film is available as an add-on, as well as the option of purchasing the entire photo collection on disk. Special: Mention A Child Grows in Brooklyn by June 30, 2010, and receive $100 off your package.
Justine Cooper Photography, voted Best Brooklyn Photographer by ParentsConnect, is doing a One Day Spring Special on Sunday, May 23rd. Get a relaxed portrait session of your children, the whole family or a combination for $150. This includes an online web gallery and a $30 certificate towards prints or products. Justine only does this a couple of times a year and they book quickly, so if you are looking for a great Father’s Day present, or just a good excuse to get some new images, this is your chance.
Stomping Ground Photo has quickly earned a reputation for its relaxed portraits on colorful backgrounds. They are having an Open Studio event on May 22nd and May 23rd in DUMBO, Brooklyn where you can get a discounted rate of $150 which is much less than a private session. Each session is a half-hour which they say is plenty of time for getting great shots of the whole family.
