Make an edible train, subway or bus!

New York kids love their transportation: subways (express! local!), the bus and even the big trains that take you out of the city. There’s a fun way to celebrate transportation this weekend. Join the New York Transit Museum for “Traveling Treats” and “embark” on an arts and crafts adventure complete with candies, cookies and cake. Make licorice railways, peppermint wheels or just get lost in oodles of frosting. Whether you assemble a delicious 4 train or a scrumptious M-16 bus, you can take home your edible transit treat when you’re done and have it for dessert.

Don’t forget to visit the rest of the museum while you are there. My favorite exhibit is to go on the old subway cars and ponder what it would be like to live back then. Don’t forget that the Museum also offers Transit Tots every Friday at 11 am for ages 2-5 years. The littlest tikes can hear stories and do activities- free with museum admission.  For the full list of their Children and Family Weekend Programs, visit their site.
