You may be looking for something to do on Christmas, whether you celebrate or not. We have some fun ideas for you from a “movie and a chinese dinner” (aka Jewish Christmas) as reader Dara calls it, to catching a theater production. BAM Cinema has some fabulous movies playing- I’m dying to go see Black Swan, The King’s Speech and True Grit- and they are all playing there now.
If you are looking to include your little ones in on a movie screening, then Symphony Space might be just the place. They are showing”Hugo and the Dragon” at 11 am and 1 pm. Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for kids and $8 for members.
Feeling even more ambitious? Try the theater: Cirque de Soleil’s Wintuk and the Gazillion Bubble Show (we loved both of them) have seats. Elf and Radio City Christmas Spectacular (which I always like) have tickets as well. For reviews and synopses of those theater productions, visit our Holiday Theater page.
There is nothing more fun than watching others’ open presents, and who better to watch then the baboons and Meerkats doing that? Head to The Prospect Park Zoo or The Queens Zoo on Christmas Day to see the animals tear into their treat-filled bags and boxes. The NY Aquarium, Central Park Zoo and The Bronx Zoo are all open too. You can see the Polar Express 4-D movie and then catch a sea lion feeding at the Bronx Zoo.
Last, but not least, check out our guide to the Christmas lights in Brooklyn. If you head to Dyker Heights, reader Lauren specifically recommended stopping off at Pacificana, which Zagat called, “probably the best Chinese food in Brooklyn”.
Have a wonderful weekend!
