Charter School for FG and CH parents accepting applications

Sometimes I feel know that I can’t keep up with all the school changes and shifts. That’s why I depend upon emails, NYC School Help and Inside Schools for!  Today I got an email saying:

this is for parents looking for an alternative public school in the fort green/Clinton hill area. The Community Partnership Charter School, a free local charter school, is accepting K-7 applications for the 2011-12 school year. They have both a lower school and a middle school.

There are several tour dates if parents are interested in checking the school out:

They can visit www.cpcsschool.org for more information and to obtain an application.

And here is some more information I got from their website:

Beginning with Children Foundation (BwCF) co-founded CPCS in 2000 with a group of parents from Fort Greene, Brooklyn, who were interested in replicating the Beginning with Children Charter School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that was started six years earlier.

The school started with grades K-1 on Clermont Avenue, eventually outgrowing its space and co-locating two grades at PS 9 for two years before moving the entire school to hare space at PS 270 in 2004.

The School recently amended its charter to allow it to grow to serve grades 6-8. Its new middle school, currently consisting of grades 5 and 6, is located nearby at PS 256 at 114 Kosciusko St. in Brooklyn. In 2011-12, the school will serve grades K-7 and will reach full enrollment of 450 students in K-8 in 2012-13.
