I wrote about this new organization, Extreme Kids & Crew, who has just started offering classes for children with disabilities. They have large goals in creating a center for special needs children, including a playspace, swimming area and theater. With all their forward momentum, it seems like it could become a reality for Brooklynites.
Next week they are aiming to help parents by presenting a series of evening workshops for parents of special needs children. The Brooklyn Center for the Independence of the Disabled (BCID) is a co-presenter.
The first seminar will be: An Overview of the Special Education System and the I.E.P.Cocktails & Bureaucracy (i.e., stuff you need to know, enlivened by wine & cheese)
Where: 143 Waverly Avenue between Myrtle & Park in Fort Greene, BK
When: Tuesday, March 15 from 7-9 pm.
Workshop begins at 7, Drinks at 8.
The workshop is FREE but you need to RSVP. Contact them either at info@extremekids&crew.org or call 347-528-4246
