So you missed the Westminster Dog Show in February? Fuggettaboutit! We have something better for you!
The Brooklyn Mutt Show is getting ready to unleash the cavalcade of Canine contestants for this weekend’s events.
Doors will open both days at 11am with the first Category of competition commencing at noon sharp at the Brooklyn Lyceum in Park Slope.
The breakdown for the weekend is as follows: (don’t miss the Snook-A-Like!)
Saturday 3/26: FLOOR OPENS 11am
12pm BEST EARS: All dog ears are adorable, OBVIOUSLY, but whose are the softest? Cutest? Floppist? Frought with personality? Is it your dog? Enter and find out!
1pm FREE DOG AND PEOPLE ZUMBA: The Lyceum’s in-house Zumba instructor will get people AND pup tails wagging with a 30-minute, low-impact dance party that even dogs will love. For the dogs with four left feet there will be balls to chase too.
2pm AGILITY with DOGGIE ACADEMY Sarah Westcott,CPDT-KA Certified Professional Dog Trainer will take the everymutts through a fun and challenging agility course to show that all dogs have an athlete in them.
3pm BEST KISSER (aka DOGGIE MAKEOUT PARTY) Who’s got the SLOPPIEST, WETTEST, SLURPIEST buss in Brooklyn? Last years winner Nibbler may be a tough act to follow…
4pm MOST and LEAST USEFUL PET TRICK Are you the proud parent of an expert belly-flopper? A bathroom door burster-inner? A dedicated waterbottle carrier…or can your dog do a trick that would be considered actual? We’ll be the extremely objective judges when you register…
5pm Best BEARD in BROOKLYN- Got a Dobie mix that’s dainty despite her considerable facial fuzz? Got your very own Zach “GaliFURnakis?” This contest is for you!
6pm CUTEST PUPPY (under 7 mos)- Got a puppy? Enjoy the sound of mass squealing? Care if the Emcee runs off unexpectedly with your dog under her dress? Enter the cutest puppy competition!!!
Sunday 3/27 FLOOR OPENS 11am
12pm ESSAY CONTEST “Why my Dog IS Brooklyn:” WE invite kids to compete with a short essay about what makes their dog as diverse and special as the borough itself. Winners receive a custom screen printed tee of their dog from Roxy’s Tee Parlour.
1pm FREE ZUMBA FOR PEOPLE AND PETS: The Lyceum’s own Zumba coach Miss Madeline returns again sunday, wagging away with a 30 minute, low-impact dance party to give you and your mutt the same workout for once. Balls to chase, tails to shake.
2pm Dog/Owner LOOK A LIKE: Last year’s winner, Doggie Moms’ ERIKA SEARLE and her adorable Cubby really went all out with matching sweaters and hairdos but we’re ready for you to do one even better. Can you and your dog share skinny jeans? Enter here.
3pm Best TAIL in BROOKLYN! I mean, we are sure yours is fantastic but this contest is for dogs only.
4pm SEXIEST SENIOR: (8 and up). Do you have the Raquel Welch of Rotti mixes? The George Hamilton of Great Danes? Let them show the world it doesn’t even get good until its golden.
5pm CANINE COSTUME CAVALCADE: Last year we had a Pitt mix in a Lion Suit. A Dog named Durga in an amazing homemade t-shirt. Cubby and Ginger in frilly dresses, a Maltese in a sailor suit and the one and only Weebay Misdemeanor Snoutenhauer as the Cheeseburger Queen. If we don’t see at least one Charlie Sheen Warlock-Rockstar-from-Mars, Regan’s going to be REALLY upset.
6pm SNOOK-A-LIKE: Full Disclosure: The Brooklyn Lyceum is kind-of in love with Jersey Shore’s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. Well, okay, Regan is; the rest of us are a little scared by it all. And you know, Snooki is little, loud and orangey-brown. So are a lot of dogs. The connections are obviously too many to name. So put your pekingese mix in a pouf and get out on our stage. If your male dogs do not want to cross the gender line, we will also award prizes to dogs best dressed up as Ronnie, Pauly or the Situation.
