I’m gonna be on TV!

Photo of the interview by ©Perfect Capture Photography

Whoopee…. the blog and our Brooklyn Baby Expo are going to be on TV tonight- let me know how we do since I don’t have cable.  If you were my mom, you might write me to tell me if:

My hair was combed

I sat up straight

I was articulate and didn’t say “uh” and “like”

I smiled

Let’s jut hope I got #1 at the very least (but very unlikely given the photo someone took of the interview)- see above photo.

Here are the details:

The episode premieres Monday, March 28th, at 9pm in Brooklyn on Time Warner Cable 56, Cablevision 69, and now in all five boroughs, on Verizon FIOS 44.  Like any other cable program, you can DVR or Tivo it!  If you prefer, you can watch the show streaming live at the times the show airs: go to www.bricartsmedia.org/bcat and launch Channel Three.

For the next two weeks, the episode will repeat every Monday and Thursday at 1pm and 9pm and every Friday at 3pm and 11pm.  Soon after the show premieres, it will also be on their website.  Go to http://www.bricartsmedia.org/bit and follow the Brooklyn Review link.

On the episode of Brooklyn Review:
·Walk Around the Blog: A Child Grows in Brooklyn: It started out as an online baby blog,  but when Karen Connell saw the growing need to educate new parents about all the resources available to children right here in Brooklyn, she took matters into her own hands, marrying dozens of vendors with parents for Brooklyn’s first ever baby expo.

·Mixed Martial Arts Debate: Opponents call it violent and dangerous; but fans see mixed martial arts as a legitimate, highly regulated sport, not to mention a potential revenue source that could help the state with its budget problems.  As efforts to legalize the sport resume in Albany, we visit a mixed martial arts school in Flatlands to find out what’s generating so much debate.

· Subway Etiquette: New Yorkers are always on the go and most of the time they’re going by subway.  Now the MTA is considering a ban on subway eating and it’s giving Brooklynites food for thought.

· Project Explorer: With schools facing budget cuts, field trips are becoming a thing of the past.  But one social studies teacher at Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice is using the Internet to take his students on virtual trips around the world.

· Gay Bash:
We meet a young Williamsburg man whose life was impacted by an act of senseless violence and now that cowardly act has mobilized a community to say never again, and it’s a real gay bash.

· Taxes: We’re giving you a friendly reminder from Uncle Sam: get your taxes done!  You have until midnight on April 18th and depending on your income, you just might qualify for free filing.  Volunteers at the Brooklyn Co-Op Federal Credit Union can help you meet the deadline and maximize your return.
