Slackers Alert: Summer Camp Expo this weekend

If you think it’s too early to think about summer camp- think again. I called one camp 3 weeks ago to register and was told they had been sold out for weeks. So much for us slackers! Don’t despair, there is a Summer Camp Expo this weekend where you can meet directors and you can try out some of the camps.

The International School of Brooklyn moved into to their new large facilities in Carroll Gardens last fall and now has enough space to offer specialty camps. Besides their mainstay French and Spanish immersion camps, they are now offering camps in Capoeira, RoboFun, Yoga, Toy Design and more. (Disclosure: our son attended ISB’s Spanish summer camp last year for 2 weeks and enjoyed it. I would do it again if they hadn’t moved to a location too far for us to walk to now.)

Mini-camps will be doing demos all day so bring your kids to check them out:
Capoeira (10-10:30am)
RoboFun (10am-12pm)
Curious Jane (10am-12pm)
Bija Kids Yoga (11:30am-12pm)

All families attending the EXPO will be entered in a raffle for $100 off of a week of camp. Three $100 prizes awarded!! (One entry per family)

Here are the camps that ISB is offering at their location:

French & Spanish Immersion Camp:
Children enrolled in French & Spanish Summer Camp at the International School of Brooklyn will explore a variety of themes, explore visual and movement arts, music, and science, all in a language-immersion environment.  Children with all language levels are welcome. 3-5 yr old groups are conducted in an immersion environment. English may be used occasionally in the 6-8 yr old groups, depending on the language background of the group, in order to make the experience enjoyable and meaningful for all students.

Art & Design Explorers:
Children will visit various NYC art museums and create projects with visual arts materials, as well as sewing, woodworking, weaving and papermaking.
Bija Kids Yoga:
Yoga sessions, games, music, eco-friendly art and gardening activities.
Brooklyn Beanstalk Art Lab:
Campers will delve into three perspectives on art: visual, dance, and theater.

Capoeira:
Students will spend the week playfully exploring & training the multi-dimensional art of Capoeira: improving physical fitness, musical abilities, and understanding of Portuguese and Brazilian culture.

Curious Jane:
Toy design (Girls Only); Create toys with elements that light up, buzz and move. Design, experiment, build!
French/Spanish Drama Camp: Children will work with theater specialists, from movement exercises and games to music, characters, puppets, and more!

Robofun:

Lego robotics & Video game design

Sports & Adventure Explorers:
These active campers will explore the best of NYC sporting and adventure spots for kids! Rock climbing, swimming, bowling, ice skating and more!
