There is nothing more fun than watching a bunch of kids let loose to run after colorful eggs. Whether the eggs are filled with jelly beans, stickers or something else, each one found is a sweet treasure. We bought inexpensive Easter baskets for $2.99 each at Duane Reade. All the drug stores carry them at that price, but I thought DR’s were the nicest. Don’t bother going to a Dollar Store or 99 Cent Store for baskets: they weren’t any cheaper and ditto for the plastic eggs. I plan to put tattoos and tic tacs in my eggs. You?

Put on your bonnet, whether traditional or wacked out crazy and meander with the paraders on Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets. This is a quintessential thing to do in NYC. I’ve gone a couple of times and enjoyed the fabulous homemade bonnets, dog costumes and transvestite dressing. All done in quiet, serene fashion. You don’t need to go for long, and even more than once- but you must do it at least once in your lifetime.
