Looking for a house cleaner? We got the scoop- with a discount!

Not only do I love this apartment- I love how clean it looks!

One argument my husband and I used to have on a weekly basis was: whose turn was it to take out the garbage?… or vacuum….?? or do the bottom-of-the-barrel job: clean the bathroom!?  After a few months of this, we concluded that it wasn’t worth arguing about anymore and we decided to hire a house cleaner. But, who? We didn’t know anyone in our neighborhood of Chelsea. We asked around for weeks and then finally found someone- who worked out for awhile and then just….disappeared. We were left high and dry to start the whole process over again…and in between to argue over the cleaning duties. Ugh.

Apparently, most of NYC has the same issues. If you look on any of the neighborhood list serves, everyone seems to be looking for a good home cleaner. Occasionally, people respond that their cleaner has some hours available and the questions ensue: how much does she cost, what day is she available, is she trustworthy, can she do green cleaning…etc. In the end, it’s a big guessing game. You let someone into your home and hope for the best; eyes closed.

There’s a new service for NYC that has taken the guessing game out of hiring a home cleaner.  MyClean was started by 4 NYC professionals who were frustrated by the process of finding reputable cleaners, reaching them by phone, scheduling them and getting a fair price. With their new business, they have found a way to offer what most New Yorkers are looking for in a home cleaner (and you know that’s not an easy task!)

Looking for a green cleaner? Bing! For a highly trained, experienced cleaner? Bing, bing! How about one who will come whenever you want? Bing! One who accepts credit cards? Bing! One that you can schedule at all times of the night and day? Bing! One that comes with cleaning supplies- even “green”ones? Bing, bing, bing! You’ve hit the jackpot!

No more phone volleying, runs to the ATM, calling around for references or worrying if a cleaner will even show up. Just go to MyClean’s site, put your zip code in, # of bedrooms, bathrooms and then- voila! You get an instant quote that allows you to choose from a regular cleaning, extended cleaning or their really spring alternative.

Since MyClean was started four years ago, they have a full roster of trained and vetted cleaners. They hire cleaners on a trial basis during which they receive full training and seminars which sound a bit like boot camp. The cleaners scour and scrub for weeks in a test apartment setting (I can only imagine what that place looks like!) before they get to show their mettle with supervised “runs in the field”.  And even then the trial period isn’t over! Only after they receive good customer and supervisor reviews, are they allowed to become “senior cleaners.” Phew! I’m almost relieved for them! It’s a major commitment on behalf of company and cleaner, so you know a dedicated cleaner will come to your apartment on any given day. And, if you like one particular cleaner, you may have them return as often as you like.

Here are some reviews I found on Yelp:

“They cleaned my apartment for a fraction of my former cleaning lady charged..and they accept credit cards, as opposed to my former cleaning lady who required cash in an envelope…

Simply went online, scheduled an appointment and that was that. Left the key with my doorman.. and I came home to an apartment with a door hanger saying “your apartment was cleaned by MyClean”. Walked in and the place was immaculate.. the dishes were cleaned, bathroom was completely cleaned.. they got all the dust/dirt off my curtains. Place looked brand new.

I’m a fan. This is my new cleaning service.”

“So I have tried at least 4 other cleaning services before I got to MyClean, and wow.  So awesome.

1) Before anything else, they do a great job cleaning.  I keep my apartment pretty clean/tidy to begin with, so I like to have them come in every few months or so just to spruce things up a bit and wow.  Direct quote from my friend, “Wow, I didn’t think this place could get cleaner, but it did.  They did a great job.”  And it’s true.

2) Affordable – I think they are VERY reasonably priced for their service, compared to other cleaners.

3) Ease – If they made it any easier to schedule cleans, I’m pretty sure my head would explode.  To be fair – I’ve never actually met any of the cleaners who have come to my apartment.  I just leave a key with the doorman and come home to a spotless apartment.  Like magic.

I’ve never had any issues with their customer service.  Have found all communication with them to be quite coridal.  Haven’t had any issues with things going “missing” either.  I’ve used them 3 times so far and will use them again!

Beyond satisfied with them.”
