Royal Wedding Fever in DUMBO with your kids

Have you been sucked into the vortex of the Royal Wedding Fever? Perhaps it’s a bit hard to be when we seem very far from Westminster Abbey and the wedding between HRH Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton. The Brits are caught up in the frenzy of the festivities….and now we will have our own wedding fever in Brooklyn!

The Dumbo Improvement District, with media partner BBC America, is bringing the wedding to us in Brooklyn with a live viewing and British-style street party under The Archway in DUMBO.

You can join the party in your pjs as it kicks off at the ripe hour of 5:30 am with BBC America’s commercial free coverage. Only hard core fans encouraged for that time slot! If you like a more leisurely morning routine, saunter over a bit later for contests and prizes for the best fancy hat and costumes for both children and adults.  Dress as your favorite royal (real or imagined), don a fancy hat and commemorate it all with a snapshot from the photobooth on site. (Props will be supplied for those of you who can’t be bothered to get out your feathered hats for the occasion). If you really want to go for a unique look, you can plop yourself down at the craft table and fashion yourself some crowns and tiaras. For super late-risers, BBC America’s coverage will be replayed in its entirety immediately following the live coverage. Kids activities are from 10 am – 12 pm.

So, Brooklyn, dress up as a princes and princesses, young and old, and enjoy some cheeky fun!
