A drive-in movie not only sounds nostalgic, it sounds downright impossible in the heart of Brooklyn. The “Drive-In Movie Night” at PS 29 in Carroll Gardens, isn’t actually a drive-in but a sit-in. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets and get ready to sing along with the Oompa Loompas as they chant their songs of ethics to the children in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Also screening will be the four audience favorites (two films tied for third place!) from Big Movies for Little Kids‘ first-ever student film festival. Hotdogs, hamburgers, popcorn, candy and beverages will be available for purchase.
Film summary: Young Charlie Bucket and Grandpa Joe get caught in the middle of Wonka’s secret agenda in director Mel Stuart’s Oscar-nominated fantasy based on the Roald Dahl book. . (USA; 1971; rated G; 100 mins.)
