Want a better work-life balance? So do these Brooklynites

Who isn’t frustrated by the lack of imbalance between our lives and work? With our super cool PDAs that allow us to text, email and call, we are constantly “available”. What we need are support systems that help balance life and work, like mandated parental leave and affordable quality daycare.  A group of neighborhood parents, frustrated with the work-life struggle, have decided to come together to see if they can do anything to bring about more family-friendly policies in our workplaces, our state, and beyond.  HOORAY!

Join them at their first meeting which is a brainstorming session to discuss and learn about initiatives for family-supportive policies already underway nationwide. The point is to bring about change, so come armed with ideas, thoughts or even just the energy to support change.

Sharon Lerner, author of The War on Moms: On Life in a Family-Unfriendly Nation, will be speaking, as will A Better Balance, an organization that seeks to reshape laws and workplace practices to support working parents.  They will talk about the work they are doing and their suggestions for ways to complement the efforts already underway.

Children welcome–they will have pizza for the kids and light snacks for adults.
