Those with cars- lament. The Department of Transportation (DOT) will increase the parking rates throughout Brooklyn beginning August 9, 2011. Like we need another price hike of any sort. The new parking meter rates will be $1.00 an hour for short-term parking ($0.25 for 15 minutes) and $8.00 a day at all long-term metered spaces.
Have you noticed the lonely parking meter poles that stand meterless on the streets? DOT has been removing them (well, just the meters so far) and replacing them with muni-meters. This is a borough-wide change and has a project date of August 27, 2011 and June 2012. If you head to 5th Ave in Park Slope though, almost all the meters are gone.
