Is it possible for your child to go to baseball camp every day for 3 weeks and still want more ? After 3 successful weeks at Home Run Baseball Camp, we found out yesterday that the camp is being extended due to popular demand, so we’ll keep going….and going! I am thrilled to have found a camp that my son can’t wait to get to every morning. I want to get the word out about this amazing new addition to Brooklyn- and now that they have decided to keep it going through the end of August- to help them get the camp filled for this last minute extension.
And, I’m not the only one. I asked some parents who sent their kids there for their thoughts on it.
Our 2 weeks ended up becoming 4! Homerun Baseball is that good. It’s not just about baseball, but about teamwork, collaboration, life lessons…Coach Mac has designed something that is truly outstanding – great coaches, a fun, supportive environment that challenges the intellect as well as physical skills. My son absolutely loved this camp, and can’t wait to go back next summer. – Hyo
My boys, ages 8 and 6, were signed up for three weeks, but ended up with five. In addition to excellent baseball instruction, the real beauty of this camp is how it makes the kids feel about themselves. The coaches know everyone’s name, and do their best to make sure the campers know their teammates’ names too. The kids get tons of turns at bat and in the field, and lots of life lessons along the way — all in a safe and fun atmosphere. – Sha
Our sons enjoyed camp – so much that they extended by 2 weeks! My husband and I also felt that the coaches were great – not just baseball-wise, but also keeping the kids safe (we were there during the 90-100 degree weeks), plus fostering a love of the game and a wonderful sense of sportsmanship. It was a great experience for all of us….we look forward to next year! – Becky F.
My extremely baseball-obsessed-just-turned-9 years-old son …..really loved it–from the very first day. The coaches seemed great and very enthusiastic–and in addition to playing (I believe 2 games a day), the kids worked on game skills, and reading was very strongly encouraged. My son loved playing, of course, but also competing for baseball cards by answering baseball trivia questions. He came home totally exhausted but happy. I plan to sign him up for another week in late August. – Yael
Home Run Baseball Camp is so well booked in Washington DC that they take over 4 baseball fields there and have around 200 plus campers every day!
Here’s what our family loved:
- Coaches were personable and greet parents with smiles and reports on your child and greet kids with warm welcomes and personal attention.
- The program is totally organized and professional. I never worried once about safety, the heat wave or …anything.
- Team meetings are mixed-aged so little ones learn from the big kids and the big kids help and foster friendships with the little ones.
- My son learned how to cheer others’ efforts on rather than just focusing on his own.
- Each week the coaches gave a book out to each child that was baseball-themed. I loved that they supported reading and encouraged it.
- They learn baseball fundamentals, but they learn lots of team-building skills as well.
- The overall messaging is great, “Learn your teammates names, respect your teammates and coaches, respect yourself, greet people by looking at them in the face, share time and space with others, encourage others and have fun.”
Featured on npr, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated and the Today Show, this isn’t just a run-of-the-mill baseball camp. It’s a successful “schooling” of over 25,000 boys and girls with instructors that are invested in the program: 95% of the counselors and coaches are camp alumni.
