How To Prepare For The Hurricane in Brooklyn

There is great advice out there on how to prepare for the hurricane this weekend. Mostly, it entails stocking up on supplies and securing your windows and apartment.

What about your kids? Not much advice on that, but it seems like stocking up on “rainy day” activities is a must as well as plenty of their favorite foods.  There’s also the mental preparation: showing them that you are being smart in preparing your family and not paralyzed by fear. As I know (unfortunately, by some gaffes on my part), it doesn’t help your kids to show them you are scared. Any thoughts on how you are preparing your family and kids…..? Good activities, suggestions?

My husband was at Home Depot early this morning and he said it was swamped with people buying subpumps, tape and mops.

I was at Fairway buying cases of water and batteries and people were loading grocery carts up with jugs of water.

Not to make you panic more than you already are, since we are all a bit scared (and if you aren’t, kudos to you!). So,  in the face of fear, I always find the best recourse is to read up on how to handle a situation. So, here’s what I found that helped me, and I hope that it helps you.
