Weekly Events: Puppetsburg, Fork & Pencil Book Fair, Storytime at Dean Street and Much More

We are so excited about Halloween (have you seen our massive Halloween activity guide?!?!) and to lead up to the big day we are excited to enjoy some Halloween-related events this week like The Haunted Pumpkin Garden at The New York Botanical Garden and the Paint-A-Pumpkin event at Moomah. In addition to all things Halloween, this week you can enjoy the regular round-up of singalongs and a new puppet show for babies at the Brick called Puppetsburg.  Have a fantastic week and check out our calendar page for even more events and local activities.

P.S. 29’s Fork & Pencil Book Fair

Paint-A-Pumpkin at Moomah
All month long the creative art space, Moomah is hosting pumpkin painting party for kids. There will also be crafts like creating your own Monster-Mash Placemat, Paint-Your-Own Haunted House, Make-Your-Own Monster Hands & Feet, and much more! This event is $15 per child. New Puppet Play Group
Puppetry is quite an incredible art that kids of all ages love! Liz Joyce, performer and musician, established puppet playgroups in Sag Harbor at Goat on a Boat that she is now bringing to Brooklyn at the Clockwork Puppet Theater. This 8-week course, taught by Liz, will include music, interactive games and a puppet show with Minkie, the monkey. Babies and Books at the Central Library
A fun way to bond with your baby and meet new parents is through the Babies and Books program at the Brooklyn Public Library. This free event is targeted for babies 0 to 18 months and includes readings from children’s books, songs and rhymes. Pick up a ticket at the Children’s Reference Desk on the morning of the program. HIP play

We reported last week that our favorite resale shop Still Hip is closing Until the end of the month, you can still enjoy their playgroups. Participants are simply asked to help set up and clean up the space, but there will always be someone in the store to help. This storytime, designed for kids 5 and up, is with Michelle. Kids will love to bop and dance along to some of their favorite songs. An interactive and fun show, Puppetsburg, is a weekly puppet show for babies featuring cool puppetry and music. Free singalong with Yoshie and Ora Fruchter
