On Thursday, December 8, SchoolBook, a collaboration between The New York Times and WNYC, will present a live Town Hall event on school choice. WNYC’s Brian Lehrer will host a panel discussion featuring NYC Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott. The event will focus on how to navigate the public school system and make the best choices for middle and high school students.
These are the topics they intend to cover:
Is school choice improving the education for most students? Has the increased competition prompted the regular neighborhood schools to change for the better? Or are they struggling to meet the needs of the most difficult students left behind in the rush of reforms? These issues and more will be explored with NYC Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott.
