A lot of times parents just have to take matters into their own hands. That’s especially true with 3 New York moms who decided that parents needed a centralized resource for children with special needs. In 1983, these moms created an organization that not only helps families find out about educational services for their children, but teaches them how to advocate for their children and themselves. They put on community awareness events, publish booklets of recommended resources and also do specialized trainings.
The organization they formed, Resources for Children with Special Needs (RCSN),is New York City’s only independent nonprofit organization that works for families and children with all special needs, across all boroughs. Firmly committed to our mission, RCSN is one of the country’s 100 federally-funded Parent Training and Information Centers.
