Happy Kwanzaa! Celebrate the African-inspired, Kwanzaa, holiday and its seven principles with the Brooklyn Children’s Museum from Monday, December 26 – Thursday, December 29.

National Grid Earthworks: Light It Up!

How can you light a lightbulb? Plugging it in or using batteries is easy enough, but what about solar panels or other ways? Explore alternative energy and circuits to build your own light and sound show!

Gleaming lights shimmer in many homes during the winter, celebrating holidays that cherish joy, hope, and family. Explore the symbol of light in the stories and traditions of Kwanzaa, Christmas, Hannukah, Diwali and more. Create a light-inspired craft with us as we discuss our celebrations!

Toy Inventor’s Workshop: Rockets!

‘Tis the season for toys, but ingenious kids know how to make their own fun. We’ll learn the basics of propulsion and Newton’s laws of motion, then it’s: 3-2-1 blast off!

Kwanzaa: Day of Delights featuring W.O.R.D. UP! Reading, Holiday Traditions and Treats!
3:00pm-4:30pm
Celebrate Kwanzaa! Join us today for a cultural celebration exploring the African-American holiday of Kwanzaa.  Sample delicious Afro-Caribbean treats provided by the “top chef” at Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, get an exclusive copy of their new children’s book, Mr. Krust and the Talent Contest (written and illustrated by Monica Forrestall) and listen to a Kwanzaa inspired W.O.R.D. UP! reading of, Seven Spools of Thread: A Kwanzaa Story (written by Angela Shelf Medearis) read by
Mr. Krust (Golden Krust mascot dressed as giant Caribbean pattie). Pre-registration is required, to RSVP for this program please call 718-735-4400×321.
