With BAMKids Film Fest over last weekend, it’s time to focus on the upcoming New York Int’l Children’s Film Festival. This is the country’s largest festival for kids and teens and it’s massive. There are 4 weeks of new works, 100 films, closing and opening galas, filmaker Q&As and filmaking workshops. The festival, geared for ages 3-18 years, runs March 2-25 at New York’s DGA Theater, Walter Reade Theater, IFC Center, Peter Norton Symphony Space, Asia Society, Scholastic Theater, and Cantor Film Center. The Festival has just announced its lineup and tickets are now on sale.
Last year they were sold out with an audience of 25,000, so though that sounds intimidating, this festival still feels intimate with its varied small theatre locations. All screenings are expected to sell out, so advance purchase is highly recommended.
