Universal Pre-Kindergarten Info

The deadline to apply for free Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program is fast approaching.  If your child was born in 2008 and lives in New York City, you are eligible to apply for free Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) programs. UPK programs are available at both public elementary schools and community-based organizations (CBOs), though there are different application timelines and processes.

Here’s more information about how to apply:

• To apply to public school pre-kindergarten programs, submit an application online or in person at an enrollment office. The application deadline is April 5, 2012. The application process is not first-come, first-served; placement offers are made based on standardized admissions priorities.
• To apply to community-based organization (CBO) pre-kindergarten programs, deliver the CBO application directly to each CBO site to which you would like to apply. There is no specific application deadline; CBO programs have rolling admissions through the start of the school year.
