Are you raising your child bilingual? Or teaching them about different cultures, exposing them to other religions? Then you are raising a global child- a child that will be “at home in the world.”
Maybe you are just starting to investigate these ideas and wonder how to engage your child in the larger world.
This weekend, World Brooklyn 2012 will celebrate and showcase work in the area of global education. The event features speakers, panel sessions, and workshops for NYC educators, parents, and all global citizens.
Homa Sabet Tavangar, author of acclaimed book Growing Up Global: Raising Children to Be At Home in the World, will open World Brooklyn 2012 with a presentation about how every child can grow up global.
The afternoon will also offer performances by global musicians from Global Arts to Go and workshops including:
- Speech Pathologist Teresa Signorelli will talk about the myths and misunderstandings of raising children bilingually
- ISB Middle School Director Carlos Martinez will look at corrective linguistic feedback and see how this fits within a language immersion model
- The Asia Society and the Partnership for After School Education will co-present a global learning workshop based on the Asia Society’s Expanding Horizons Toolkit
- Learn about how Reach the World is connecting students in NYC classrooms with Fulbright Scholars around the world through the intersection of technology and inquiry-based learning
And more…
