Local Flag Day Celebration with Neil Armstrong Flag

Tomorrow lots of little flags will be waving all around the country in celebration of Flag Day.  Locally, there will be a celebration in Brooklyn Heights at Downstate Long Island College Hospital and if you want to see the largest Flag Day parade in the U.S.- head to Troy, New York, which bases its parade on the famous Quincy, Massachusetts parade and typically draws 50,000 spectators[1][6]

The ceremony will include:

  • ceremonial lowering of the old flag and raising of the new (This flag, which flew over the United States Capitol in honor of Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, was generously donated by George Wahlert, Director, E. Morgan King Health Sciences Library at Downstate LICH.)
  • musical selection by students of PS 15 in Red Hook
