Joyce sent me an email that I needed to get the word out for her about this unusual option: 2nd grade seats are available. PS 295 in District 15, Greenwood Heights/South Slope has some seats available in their 2nd grade for fall of 2012. They are trying to maintain their 3 small classes at that grade rather than being forced by the DOE into having two larger classes. A few more students will make their numbers work.
A PTA parent wrote to me,
“I’ll spare you my usual ‘I love 295’ spiel, but will let you know that in addition to all of our other awesome-ness, we were just ranked the #20 Public Elementary School in NYC by the NY Observer. And they also gave us the “Best PTA events” award, due in large part, I’m sure, to our phenomenal ‘Touch a Truck’ (which we just held on 4/28, and raised over 25K for our kids!).”
