Nice Option: 2nd Grade Seats Available at P.S. 295

Joyce Szuflita, of NYC School Help is our School Expert and always has the scoop on what’s going on with schools. Joyce sent me an email that I needed to get the word out for her about this unusual option: 2nd grade seats are available.  She also breaks any school news on her blog here so make sure you check it out and sign up for her newsletter that gives you the full scoop!

From Joyce:

PS 295 in District 15, Greenwood Heights/South Slope has some seats available in their 2nd grade for fall of 2012. They are trying to maintain their 3 small classes at that grade rather than being forced by the DOE into having two larger classes. A few more students will make their numbers work.
A PTA parent wrote to me,
“I’ll spare you my usual ‘I love 295’ spiel, but will let you know that in addition to all of our other awesome-ness, we were just ranked the #20 Public Elementary School in NYC by the NY Observer. And they also gave us the “Best PTA events” award, due in large part, I’m sure, to our phenomenal ‘Touch a Truck’ (which we just held on 4/28, and raised over 25K for our kids!).”

It is also a noteworthy school on InsideSchools.org

Interested families should contact Parent Coordinator Shari Fields at 718-965-0390, ext 4105.
