Atlantic Antic Coming This Weekend

I can’t believe it, but the annual Atlantic Antic Street Festival is here, which means not only that fall is here but soon there will be thousands of people parading down Atlantic Avenue.  As one of, (if not the biggest and packed) festivals in NYC, this massive event spans Atlantic Avenue between Hicks and Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn, where you will find one-of-a-kind merchandise, artwork, jewelry and crafts from over 600 vendors and 100 local merchants, 10 live music stages featuring dance and kids music, and an entire block on Atlantic dedicated to family activities!

What there is for kids:

  • Transit Museum’s 19th Annual Bus Festival: this exciting part of the festival will allow kids to see old buses and trains parked right on Atlantic Avenue, do workshops, board “Betsy” the double-decker Fifth Avenue Coach Bus, two MTA Bridge and Tunnels vehicles, the Roscoe Roadpatcher Truck and the Tunnel Wrecker. The 1960s and 1970s “fishbowl” buses will be on display. You will have the rare chance to sit on the old seats, view advertisements of yesteryear, chat with the bus drivers and enjoy photo-ops galore.  Admission to the Museum will also be free. (On Boerum Place between State Street and Atlantic Avenue)
  • Families will love the Atlantic Antic Kids’ Block (located between Boerum Place and Smith Streets) where they will find pony rides, face painting, inflatable rides, balloons, stickers and tattoos. Think kiddie overload!
  • At the Atlantic Antic, stop by the Gumbo stage for a full day of kids’ events.
