Help Prevent “Summer Slide” with Fun, Educational YouTube Videos

Did you know that teachers typically spend an entire MONTH at the beginning of the school year re-teaching information forgotten in the summer months?  But there are fun, entertaining, and educational ways to prevent the “summer slide.”

YouTube.com/education is library of nearly a million exciting and entertaining educational videos that make learning fun. All the videos on YouTube.com/education are teacher approved. Since kids are going to be on the computer anyway, it’s a great way to make that time more constructive.

Here are some examples of videos from various subjects and grade levels:  

MathNumberphile dissects some of the best math jokes in a fun animated video that covers everything from vectors to magnitudes to limits and everything in between.

History & Social Sciences – Learn about some of the most important people in American history through the “Getting to Know the US Presidents” series on GettingToKnowVideos like this cartoon of George Washington that makes history accessible to kids.

Language – ESL Students ages 10 and under can study, practice and review basic English, including new vocabulary, grammar patterns and conversations, with on the Fun English channel including this video about colors.

Science – “Nerd” out and bring science experiments home with scientist and teacher Steve Spangler:
