Brooklyn Blog Talk

They Might Be Giants at Celebrate Brooklyn!

Nicole and I ran the Battle of Brooklyn 10 mile race today as part of a relay team, with another Brooklyn mom rounding out our group. We came in 5th place out of 15 all-female relay teams!  What a great way to end the week!  I also just got my FitBit bracelet in the mail yesterday, so it was a health-focused weekend overall.  Let’s see if the momentum continues.  Maybe more relevant to us all is that Celebrate Brooklyn ended last Sunday, which means summer really is almost over.  As much as I love August, this part of the months makes me feel a little sad.

Meanwhile…here are some noteworthy things I saw on my favorite local blogs this week:

Understand the New York City Mayoral Election with this Election Atlas (The Nabe)

Primaries are only three weeks away!

Park Slope: NOT on Shit List for Once (F’D in Park Slope)

I wasn’t aware that Park Slope had made any shit lists, but regardless, this is a little gem of a post.  Once again, the comments section adds some good humor.

They Might Be Giants played Celebrate Brooklyn! at Prospect Park, announce fall tour (pics, video, setlist, dates) (Brooklyn Vegan)

A little synopsis of the show and a great picture gallery + video.  And of course the comments section on Brooklyn Vegan rarely disappoints.

Brooklyn Grange Farm at The Navy Yard (Eating Brooklyn)

I live a stone’s throw from the Navy Yard and wasn’t aware of some of the things she mentions here.  Looking forward to checking them out before end of summer.

Brooklyn Based No More (Bklyn or Beyond)

This is from August 7th but was big news to me – Colleen Kane’s (Brooklyn Based) decision to move to Jersey City. Wonder who will go next?
