Do the children still want to celebrate Halloween after today? We have the last weekend of Dead or Alive at NY Hall of Science and Boo at the Zoo: Dragons and Dinosaurs at the Bronx Zoo.
Need some drama? We have Sleeping Beauty starting this weekend at The New Victory Theater. Keep an eye out for a review later this week. Also we have the premiere of Rapunzel at the Galli Theater , the first part of Dance on a Shoestring at The Dance Gallery and

Music? We have The Suzie Shelton Band performing at a fundraiser at PS 230! We also have new family fun starting at the Brooklyn Historical Society and this weekend Lloyd H. Miller will be performing!
Another new event that will be monthly is, The Discovery Squad, a unique tour program designed for families affected by autism spectrum disorders at the American Museum of Natural History.

The American Museum of Natural History is proud to introduce The Discovery Squad, a unique tour program designed for families affected by autism spectrum disorders. The program was developed in collaboration with the Seaver Autism Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
On selected Saturday mornings, children on the autism spectrum ages 5–14, accompanied by an adult, can attend a 40-minute tour lead by specially trained Museum tour guides, then spend some time exploring the Discovery Room before the Museum opens to the public. Families are invited to stay after the tour and enjoy the Museum when it opens to the public at 10 am. Children ages 5–9 will discover the dioramas in the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals, which offers a snapshot of the plants and animals native to North America. They will then plunge into the ocean to explore the dioramas in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life. Children ages 10–14 will join our guides on a paleontological adventure through the Koch Dinosaur Wing.

Each session of this Saturday morning series of stories and games for our youngest fans focuses on a feathered, fellow city-dweller that, just like an elevated subway train, keeps a nest in New York and zooms through the skies above the streets.

At a Rockdoves concert, children are performers, too, as they transform into animals, dance to fun grooves, and sing, shout, and cheer.

Brooklyn Historical Society (BHS) is excited to kick off two on-going family programs on Saturdays, full of singing, crafts, movement and creativity. At 3:00 pm on the first and second Saturdays of each month, kids ages 5-10 and their adults can engage in wonderful activities in the newly renovated 1881 landmark building. Programs are free. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Siblings of all ages are welcome!
Each month focuses on a different theme. November features Feet & Wheels, a celebration of getting around our borough by walking, running, or riding a bicycle. Families will get a first look at the music video for Lloyd H. Miller’s popular tune “Brooklyn by Bike!”

Science Story Time, 11 am – Gather around and hear a story about a bat that loves to listen in during story time. He lives in the attic of a library and pokes his head through a hole in the floor to hear the stories. But how can he get close enough to see the pictures without scaring the children? Hear the whole story in the Science Technology Library as NYSCI’s librarian reads from Littlebat’s Halloween Story by Diane Mayr.
Dead or Alive Party, 3 – 6 pm: Frankenstein-like projections by Mapathon, forensic science activities, locally made Day of the Dead-inspired treats, and Halloween make projects. Prizes will be awarded to those in costumes.

Canstruction® is an extraordinary annual design competition and the most unique food charity in the world. Teams of architects, engineers, contractors, and the students they mentor will compete to build large-scale structures made entirely out of unopened cans of food. The whimsical, wacky, and truly unique sculptures are then on view to the public until they are dismantled and donated to City Harvest for distribution to those in need. Admission is free, but visitors are asked to bring a can of high quality food to the exhibition’s collection station in an attempt to surpass the record 91,000 pounds of food donated following the 20th Annual Competition.
