Hard to believe that Thanksgiving and Hanukkah are next week!
This weekend we have some early Hanukkah & Thanksgiving celebrations going on like the Turkey Jam at The Old Stone House and the Hanukkah Celebration at the Kings Bay Y at Windsor Terrace!
At the Brooklyn Museum we have the 7th Annual Children’s Book Fair and Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf classic interpretation of the folktale presented by the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra, with narration and comedic play by The Maestrosities! We also have a lot of free events this weekend! The last Baby Story Time of 2013 at Greenlight Bookstore, Monkey Monkey Music presents Macaroni at the Central Library, Extreme Kids & Crew Music & Play and Family Art Workshop at AMP and the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee’s “Join the Huddle” mobile tour!

One, Two, Tres!’ is a bilingual (Spanish/ English) puppet show created for babies and children, up to 4 years old. Children become immersed in a magical world of puppetry, which focuses on visual, auditory and verbal stimuli and provides a wonderful bonding experience between parents and children. Each act has repetitive actions and simple musical rhythms, which babies can focus on and enjoy, and toddlers will be totally entertained in a creative, stimulating environment.

Hip Tween Dance Party at Putnam’s (Clinton Hill)

Kids ages 8-12 are invited to dance the afternoon away with DJ Misbehaviour and her lil spinners at Putnam’s underground club! Parents can chill upstairs and get great drinks ($4 beers + $5 wine) and food specials. Kids can purchase $5 drink tickets for Hip Tween mocktails.
You will be able to sign your child up for a four week DJ program with DJ Misbehaviour and your child will get to spin at the next event! More info about the classes will be available on November 23rd.

Little Makers: Gingerbread Celebration at New York Hall of Science (Flushing Meadows)

Whip up some delicious gingerbread cookie dough and design and build your own mini gingerbread house. This is a drop-in workshop Register on the day of the event at the NYSCI admissions area or use this link to pre-register. Sometimes creativity can get messy, so dress the little maker (and yourself) in old clothing that can be splattered with things like paint, ink and oobleck.

The NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee’s “Join the Huddle” mobile tour presented by P.C. Richard & Son, which travels via the “Huddle Shuttle”, will be at Prospect Park – Grand Army Plaza Entrance – in Brooklyn, NY on Sunday, November 24 from 11 AM to 3 PM.
Fans attending can visit the Huddle Shuttle’s replica stadium locker room with NY Jets, NY Football
Giants, Super Bowl, and Vince Lombardi memorabilia, as well as the Vince Lombardi Trophy Room and the broadcast booth. Fans can also participate in the stations outside the structure where they can perform a host of basic football drills.

On Sunday mornings, a rotating cast of children’s performers (pictured below) take turns keeping babies and toddlers under 3 years old entertained with stories, songs, and interactive play. Gingerbread Lane at New York Hall of Science (Flushing Meadows)

Marvel at homemade gingerbread houses that are drafted, designed, baked, planned, built and decorated by chef Jon Lovitch over the course of an entire year. GingerBread Lane, a 1.5 ton, 300-square-foot village made entirely of edible gingerbread, royal icing and candy, is a contender for the Guinness World Record for the largest gingerbread exhibit.
The village includes an estimated 1,900 lbs. of icing, 400 lbs. of candy, and 500 lbs. of gingerbread dough. It is comprised of 152 gingerbread houses, 65 trees, four gingerbread cable cars, five gingerbread train cars, an underground candy subway station, candy trees and sugar signage. A behind-the-scenes window gives a peek into the makings of GingerBread Lane with ovens, models and ingredients made entirely from royal icing. Five two-foot-high nutcrackers, also made of royal icing, stand guard over the exhibit. Free with NYSCI admission.

Grand Central Terminal’s 14th annual Holiday Fair, sponsored by Shaw Floors, is the only holiday market in the city to operate indoors. This season, the Fair will fill Vanderbilt Hall with 76 vendors for six weeks each offering a wonderful array of holiday gifts for all your loved ones including art, clothing for adults and children, handbags, jewelry and accessories for men and women, bath and body items, home goods, collectible toys, holiday items and gifts for pets.

You’ve seen how your kids react to bubbles. Now, imagine how they would react to seeing people inside bubbles, or lasers shooting through bubbles, or bubbles within bubbles?! They will be enthralled…and so will you. I’m been to this twice because we love it so much. Awesome show and well worth the price and trip. The Gazillion Bubble Show in Manhattan, is all about bubble magic and everyone from David Letterman to Oprah thinks the show is pretty fantastic.
