One of the best parts of the holidays is the food! And I am not one to be afraid to take part in every last bit of it! So therefore I am grappling with the annual 5 pound weight gain. This is nothing I typically stress about, as it usually evens out a couple of months into the new year. But, the older I get the harder it gets to knock off a few pounds. And I hate diets. I hate diets so much that I have actually never gone on one. But, I got to see one of my culinary idols in action…Richard Blais from Top Chef! For those of you not obsessed with Top Chef (like I was when I had time!), Richard is a successful chef, restauranteur and now I can say, all-around good guy! He recently teamed up with alli to challenge you to find alternatives to high fat foods. I was a bit skeptical because I love my butter, bacon, burgers and fries. But, he broke it down in simple terms: make a couple of smart changes and you can cut the extra calories. And the changes he suggested don’t compromise the taste. Here are some examples:
Olive oil and mustard instead of store-bought salad dressing, lean lamb instead of beef, yogurt instead of sour cream.
And here are a couple of great recipes for inspiration!
