If you want to celebrate Martin Luther King Day with the children tomorrow check out the Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at BAM, you can make a Martin’s Mosaic at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan or go hear the Berean Community Drumline at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum!
This week looks like it will be cold again but not to worry we have lots of indoor events on the calendar! Also did you know there is Drop in Play at Bija Kids, The Learning Garden, at the Creative Arts Studio and at Juguemos a Cantar South Slope & North Slope locations so tell your friends and meet up and beat the cabin fever!

New York City’s largest public celebration of the great civil rights leader returns to the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, co-presented with Borough President Eric Adams and Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York. This year’s celebration features a keynote address by author, professor, and activist Angela Davis, with musical performances by modern jazz artist José James and the BCCC Singers of the Brooklyn Christian Cultural Center. Following the events in the Opera House, there will be a free screening in the BAM Rose Cinemas of the documentary Free Angela Davis and All Political Prisoners (2012), including an introduction by with Angela Davis. In conjunction with this year’s tribute, the BAMcafé will once again feature “Picture the Dream,” an exhibition of artwork inspired by Dr. King’s message of equality created by students from NYCHA Saratoga Village Community Center.

Get ready for Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium! The Children’s Museum of Manhattan and the National Football League have joined together to create an interactive experience at CMOM to celebrate this history-making event. Families will get a rare behind-the-scenes look at NFL officiating and the opportunity to train like an NFL Pro. Special daily and weekly programs and clinics—including NFL’s Play 60 obstacle course—will help families understand how developing better decision-making skills, including working together, planning, organizing and focusing on physical fitness leads to leadership and social success. NFL officials, executives, and current and former players will also stop by the museum through the exhibit’s run.
