What a week! Knocking on wood and crossing fingers that we may get a break from big storms for a while! After such a crazy week it will be so nice to have some fun this weekend and as always there is lots going on!
So many indoor events going on to keep us entertained this weekend like the last day of Sleeping Beauty Dreams at BAM, David Weinstone and The Music for Aardvarks Band at The Jewish Museum, Fantasia’s Big Bon Voyage Party at Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Audra Rox at Shapeshifter Lab and Jumping Juniper Festival with Spellbound at BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange. Also Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds is opening this weekend at The New Victory Theater and running until the end of the NYC public school break! Want to think of warmer weather? Soaring and tumbling through gorgeous video landscapes, a young girl seeks her true self—and her true love. This funny, contemporary adaptation of the classic fairy tale was written by award-winning playwright Amaranta Leyva, and is performed by Mexican puppet company Marionetas de la Esquina in both English and Spanish versions.

Jumping Juniper Festival with Spellbound at BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange (Park Slope)

Experience the exhilarating energy of Jumpin’ Juniper as she hosts an interactive hour of story, song, film, or dance. Immerse yourself in the excitement of high-quality live performances by celebrated guest artists. Juniper is a sprite! She comes from the forest and is turning 105 years old this year (that’s young in Juniper years). Juniper loves singing, dancing, exploring, reading and of course, jumping! She loves people and wants to learn from them and teach them everything she knows. She is determined, strong-willed and no-nonsense … okay … maybe a little nonsense. The hour-long performances start at 11:00 am. A well-equipped play room is available in conjunction with the performance. We are spreading the Hip Tot love with our favorite family fun rocker: Audra Rox. But not once… TWICE! Audra Rox and her band will be performing two shows the same day, one at 11am and one at 1pm. Our resident storyteller, Melanie Hope Greenberg, will read her famous children’s books Down in the Subway and KidVentures NYC will be offering free glitter tattoos. Beer or wine is available for parents while the kids can munch on Shapeshifter Lab’s famous paninis and other snacks from their cafe. All concertgoers will get a $75 discount from Brooklyn’s own car sharing company, Carpingo. As if that weren’t enough, all kids in attendance get free balloons and goodie bags.

Get ready for Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium! The Children’s Museum of Manhattan and the National Football League have joined together to create an interactive experience at CMOM to celebrate this history-making event. Families will get a rare behind-the-scenes look at NFL officiating and the opportunity to train like an NFL Pro. Special daily and weekly programs and clinics—including NFL’s Play 60 obstacle course—will help families understand how developing better decision-making skills, including working together, planning, organizing and focusing on physical fitness leads to leadership and social success. NFL officials, executives, and current and former players will also stop by the museum through the exhibit’s run.
