I am so ready for the weekend and really looking forward to the NYC public school break!
Since the public schools are closed next week there are a lot of extra events going on and some are starting this weekend! Presidents in Residence at Dimenna Children’s History Museum looks like fun and it is also Kids Week at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum! Also happening this weekend is some Valentine’s events like Gustafer Yellowgold’s Valentine’s Ball at Symphony Space and Save a Child’s Heart Valentines Day Fundraiser at Kings Bay Y North Williamsburg! Celebrate President’s Day by attending Washington’s Birthday Ball at Mount Vernon Hotel Museum & Garden or going to see Young Mr. Lincoln at Film Forum Jr. Sunday Matinee!

Harlem Globetrotters at Barclays Center (Prospect Heights)
The biggest family show in America is coming to Barclays Center on February 14, at 7:00PM when the Harlem Globetrotters take fan participation to the extreme by letting fans decide which New Globetrotter rule they’ll add to the game like 6 on 5 or the Trick Shot Challenge! Experience hours of fun for kids, grandparents and everyone in between. The show at Barclays Center is scheduled to feature many Globetrotter stars including: Special K Daley, Flight Time Lang, T-Time Brawner, Too Tall Hall, Bull Bullard and Firefly Fisher.

The History of Chocolate with American Heritage Chocolate® at Dimenna Children’s History Museum (UWS)
Mon, February 17th, 2014 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Tickets are free with museum admission, are very limited, and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Chocolate was not always sold as a candy bar! See, smell, and taste colonial hot chocolate—watch as American Heritage Chocolate educators grinds cocoa beans, add spices like red pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon, and heat up hot chocolate to taste. Don’t forget to get your own to bring home! Taste of Chocolate Workshop: 12:30, 1, 1:30, 2, 2:30, 3, 3:30 pm. Be surprised by the variety of tastes that go into making chocolate! Get up close and personal with all the ingredients—ones that are still used today by Mars chocolate! Learn about each step of the chocolate making process and taste each ingredient—ground cocoa paste, cocoa butter and more. At the end participants will taste test a chocolate square. Participants will sign up for time slots on site at the American Heritage Chocolate demonstration table.

Learn about 3D printing or robotics in hands-on workshops during our Science Meets Science Fiction Weekend, or get active with local New York sports teams over Sports and Games Weekend. Visit the Museum during the week to watch performances from Broadway’s best, or to see demonstrations with live animals from around the world. Get ready for Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium! The Children’s Museum of Manhattan and the National Football League have joined together to create an interactive experience at CMOM to celebrate this history-making event. Families will get a rare behind-the-scenes look at NFL officiating and the opportunity to train like an NFL Pro. Special daily and weekly programs and clinics—including NFL’s Play 60 obstacle course—will help families understand how developing better decision-making skills, including working together, planning, organizing and focusing on physical fitness leads to leadership and social success. NFL officials, executives, and current and former players will also stop by the museum through the exhibit’s run.
