Great news! Sadly last year Gus, Central Park Zoo’s beloved polar bear died but now his empty exhibit is getting some new residents. NYC Park’s tweeted that two brown bears named Betty & Veronica will be moving to the Central Park Zoo from their current home in the Bronx Zoo in late 2014!
My family is a member of the Wildlife Conservation Society and on our last Bronx Zoo visit we spent a long time at the brown bear exhibit since the bears were so fun & entertaining to watch.
Per this New York Times article Betty and Veronica like people’s attention so I am sure the bears will be a hit with children at their new home.
Don’t forget this is a fun time of year at the Bronx Zoo with Boo at the Zoo happening on weekends and check out the Dinosaur Safari before it ends November 2nd.
