Will There be "A Charlie Brown Christmas" at the Brooklyn Lyceum This Year?

brooklyn lyceumLast week Here’s Park Slope reported that the Brooklyn Lyceum was in foreclosure and was up for auction.  My first thought was what about “A Charlie Brown Christmas” which was done yearly at the Brooklyn Lyceum and is a hit with Brooklyn families.  The Brooklyn Lyceum also did family events like roller skating, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and a holiday craft market.  I have been highlighting Charlie Brown in my event posts in the past but never had a chance to go due to schedules.

The days leading up to Halloween tend to be busy with all the events happening in Brooklyn (check out the packed calendar) and getting costumes ready and I realized the Lyceum had slipped my mind.  I found an article from DNAinfo reporting it had been bought by a developer $7.6M at the foreclosure auction.

The article states that the owner Eric Richmond bought the Brooklyn Lyceum in 1994 and and there has been a ten year battle.  Richmond has all the information about why it was up for auction on the website.  My brain can’t follow the legal jargon when I just want to know will there be “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in Brooklyn this year?

For those not familiar with the show it was an annual live performance by the Pig Brooch Theatre Company.  I was researching the theatre company and found an write up by Brooklyn Vegan.

Per DNAinfo, Richmond is hoping he can do his holiday events while the courts are still battling everything out.  I was so busy reading articles that I forgot to look at the Lyceum website!  There is a blurb about a swan song with performances on two weekends in December but the TIX link isn’t working.  In the past tickets were $10 each or a 4 pack of $25.

Stay tuned!
