We got a tip that the Scholastic Store in SoHo closed earlier this month. The Scholastic Store had a free story-times and many other fun and free events like screenings and holiday events we are sad to hear that is closed. My daughter had a class trip there and loved it and was disappointed when she heard it shut down. Per the company website you can order books from the online store and purchase Scholastic books at other retail outlets and they have a list of stores in New York City area.
There is also an update on The Moxie Spot which closed back in December. The good news per The Moxie Spot Facebook page is that the Tuesday and Friday Moxie Spot sing-a-longs have a new home. The sing-a-longs with Rob are now happening at the The Chapel at First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn Heights at 11a on Tuesdays and Fridays. Having an indoor event for toddlers is so needed this time of year!
I also saw news about a new place opening that is not really for children but maybe eventually they will have classes for little people too. Per this dnainfo.com article an aerial, dance and circus studio is open in Williamsburg called the Brooklyn Airspace. They are offering classes where beginners will be able to learn how to spin, climb and go upside down in the air with silks! They will also have classes on the ground like ballet, modern dance and even a house music dance class. Adventurous moms and dads should check this out and if you hear anything about classes for little people let us know at events@achildgrows.com.
Stay warm and have fun and if you hear anything about openings and closing please let us know!
