Brooklyn Public Library‘s Ready, Set, Kindergarten Spring free six week program will be starting the first full weekend in March. The Ryder Library & Jamaica Bay Library will both have the events on Fridays starting March 6th. The program will be starting at 26 Brooklyn branches on Saturday March 7th at a variety of times. The flyer has all the times and branch locations. Also there will be Sunday programs starting March 8th at the Central Library and Kings Highway Library. The Flatlands Library will also be offering the program for children with and without disabilities on Saturdays.
The RSK program is for children 3 to 5 years old and with their parents or caregivers. It is a free and fun program that helps families and their children get ready for Kindergarten. During the six session series, families will enjoy stories and activities that help develop early learning practices. The sessions will go over science, math through music, stories, art, literacy, and play. Families will also receive free materials to bring home to continue the learning and fun at home.
The Brooklyn Public Library website also has great tips for reading and playing with babies and toddlers and information on reading, singing, math, writing, playing, science and talking in English and six other languages such as Spanish, Russian and Chinese!
Also this Saturday is Take Your Child to the Library Day! Check out BPL’s events calendar to find a fun, free program for the whole family at a library near you on Saturday.
