Can you believe that we will have a whole week of normal temperatures!  We can’t wait for the snow to melt and then we can start looking for snowdrops!

Fun events in Brooklyn this week are Wiggle, Jump and Sing! at the Brooklyn Heights Public Library, Toddler Time With Mary Jo at Two Boots Williamsburg, Folk Song Sing-A-Long with Katy Stone at the Park Slope Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Balasana Storytime Yoga at Terrace Dance Studio, Shadow Box Theatre’s The African Drum at PS 3 The Bedford Village School and Sing-ALong with Lucy Kalantari at ELK Cafe.

Also happening this week is a La Leche League Meeting at Sacred Studio, Back To Work 101 at Diaperkind, Rolie Polie Guacamole Sing Along w/Frank at LARK Cafe, Sing-a-long with Lloyd at Dean Street and a Free Trial Moozika Class.

Shadow Box Theatre Presents: The African Drum at PS 3 The Bedford Village School (Bedford Stuyvesant)
Monday March 9th-Wednesday March 11th 1030a.  Tickets $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  Our perennial favorite for African-American History Month! The African Drum is a truly magical “shadow puppet-and-people” show beloved by children for almost three decades. Come listen to the wit, wisdom and humor of four wondrous African folktales told by our drummer, our storyteller, our talented cast of performers – and See-More, our hallmark puppet. Listen to the beat of the African rhythms as they reveal the exciting musical adventure of the little girl Kijana, her animal friends, and the Zimwe (bad man) who tricks her. Learn How The Turtle Got Its Shell, How The Animals Got Their Colors, and why the Egret Flies Free all woven together within Kijana’s Tale.

Rolie Polie Guacamole Sing Along w/Frank! at LARK (Flatbush/Prospect Park South)
Mondays 415-5p.  Brooklyn’s Kindie Rockers!  Join us for some fun tunes for kids 0-100. $10 per family.

Back To Work 101 at Diaperkind (Gowanus)
Mon March 9th 430-630p.  Adult event.  The cost is $50 for one or $75 for you and a friend.  Join us for an evening of community, education, wine and appetizers. In this two hour class we will discuss everything you need to know about going back to work, strategies you can implement to help smooth the transition, and resources to create a support system.  We will cover: making a solid plan for going back to work, an overview of common struggles with solutions, in depth discussion on our featured topic, “Pumping at Work”, time for questions and sharing your feeling on the matter.  See website for all the details and for purchasing tickets.

Tuesday March 10th

La Leche League Meeting at Sacred Studio (Bedford Stuyvesant)
Tue March 10th 930-11a.  Free.  All moms, babies, grandmothers, expectant moms, and women interested in breastfeeding welcome.  Some topics frequently covered are; How can I get breastfeeding off to a good start? How do I know if my baby is getting enough? How often should I expect to feed my baby? What does a “typical” feeding look like? What is paced bottle feeding? How can I work with family and others’ expectations about feeding my baby? What about solids? And many others! Bring your babies and your thoughts, questions, feelings and experience to share with other moms. All are welcome.  Also, note our blog site to stay updated on our meeting schedule and more!

Wiggle, Jump and Sing! at the Brooklyn Public Library (Brooklyn Heights)
Tue March 10th 1045a-1145a.  Free.  Come and join us as we sing along to the guitar and enjoy some storytelling! With Adam Blotner and Seth Wax.

Arts ‘N’ Eats at Dizzy’s on 5th (Park Slope)
Tuesdays until March 24th 11a-1p.  Adult event.  Classes are $40 each, including supplies.  Food and drink not included, cash only.  Purchase tickets here.  InspireCorp, a local not-for-profit focused on bringing arts programs into schools, is hosting Arts ‘N’ Eats, an afternoon of dining and painting for adults.  Painter Alex Gardega will expertly lead you through the process of painting a complete work of art in less than two hours! The session is a fun opportunity to learn about artists in our community and about InspireCorp.s’ programs while creating your own original art work.

Wednesday March 11th

Toddler Time With Mary Jo at Two Boots Williamsburg
Wednesdays at 1030a.  $12 per family $3 per additional child.
Join us for some silly fun Toddler Time with Mary Jo. MJ’s background in music, theater and comedy makes “Toddler Time” a weekly class full of stories, songs, instruments and silly fun for the Zero-to-Five-year-old in all of us!

Folk Song Sing-A-Long with Katy Stone at the Brooklyn Public Library (Park Slope)
Wednesday March 11th 1130a-1215p.  Free.  Join Katy Stone for a sing-a-long for babies and toddlers! Tickets are required and will be given out 1/2 hour before the start of the program at the reference desk.

Free Trial Moozika Class (Fort Greene)
Wed March 11th 4p.  Moozika is a new, interactive, music class for children ages newborn to five years old and their adults. Our lively forty-five minute classes promote children’s musicality and development through singing, dancing, and playing instruments (shakers, bells, drums, and more.)

Thursday March 12th

Brooklyn Balasana Storytime Yoga at Terrace Dance Studio (South Slope)
Thursdays 10-11a.  Price: pay what you can sliding scale $5-15.
Balasana is sanskrit for ‘childs pose’ in yoga. In my Brooklyn Balasana class, I provide engaging, creative, thoughtful yoga for children aged 1-5 and their families. Through animals, the alphabet and our favorite stories, we move our body, explore our relation to space and find calm. Each class begins and ends with a simple restorative yoga practice for our adults as a supervised play area is provided for your children.

Sing-a-long with Lloyd at Dean Street (Prospect Heights)
Thursdays 1030am and are just $8/family!  Singalong with Lloyd from The Deedle Deedle Dees!  Have fun and lunch starts at 1130a and a kid’s menu always available.

Sing-ALong with Lucy Kalantari at ELK Cafe (Windsor Terrace)
Thursdays 4p.  $5/per family (suggested donation).  Lucy Kalantari will be doing a bilingual set of familiar tunes, both old and modern, peppered with her original ditties. Come stop by and say hello.

Playgroup at Bija Kids (Clinton Hill)
Mon-Thu now until May 29th 330-5p.  For ages 0-3y.  $15 first child/$7 additional child or 10 packs also available.  Take Refuge at Bija Playgroup When the Weather Turns!  After a nap and lunch, but before bath and dinner, come to hang out and play with other 0-3 year olds at Bija​. With parents or caregivers present, little ones explore puzzles, instruments, books, and plush toys in a warm, safe, and enriching environment. One our our dynamic teachers leads an enrichment activity each afternoon. Expect bubbles, parachute, paint, and more!  Parents and caregivers must remain onsite.

WEE Arts Drop-in Session at the Children’s Museum of the Arts (South Village)
M-F 1045a-12p, $25 per family ($20 for members).  Want to stay longer? General admission is just $6 per person after drop-in.  Music time! Story time! Art time! Join CMA’s WEE teaching artists for an art-filled drop-in session before we open our doors to the public. Parent and/or caregivers are required to join and we encourage family collaboration throughout the class. No sign up required.

Jack and the Beanstalk at Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre (Central Park)
Tue–Fri 1030a & 12p, Wed 1030a, 12p & 230p,  Sat & Sun 1p until June 28th.  Tickets are $7/children and $10/adults.  Based on the classic English fairytale, this fresh retelling of the Swedish Cottage original production takes Jack on an enchanting adventure up a magical beanstalk. In this starry new world, Jack encounters the notorious Giant, Milford, whose thieving ways have brought misfortune upon Jack and his mother. Determined to make life better for his family, Jack, with help from friends old and new, risks his life to take back what the Giant stole.
