I love books! I am a huge reader and luckily my children are too. We are also huge fans the Brooklyn Public Library which has 58 neighborhood branches. Did you know in 2009 the Brooklyn Public Library had the highest program attendance of any public library system in the United States of America!
We search the Brooklyn Library catalog via the website and put books on hold all the time and then pick them up at our local branch! It is very handy and I was excited to hear about this new feature at the BPL. The Brooklyn Public Library has a free service called Bklyn BookMatch. Complete the form and a BPL librarian will create a customized reading list of five titles for you. They will email suggestions to you within two weeks approximately. I am going to make a request for my son and looking forward to getting some book ideas for him.
The BPL always has great events going on such as the current Ready, Set, Kindergarten program and their is calendar is full of free events for babies and kids at a variety of branches! Also the Central Brooklyn Public Library announced that there is an interactive play space in the Central Youth Wing for children ages 0-5 years. The play space will have trains and mirrors, mazes, gears, and more! More interactive play spaces are coming to other BPL branches thanks to the City Council’s First Readers Initiative.
Have fun reading!
