The students, parents and faculty at PS 132 are gearing up for the 11th annual Kite Festival, taking place this Sunday, June 7th, at East River State Park in Williamsburg. The event kicks off at noon, with performances taking place throughout the day, as well as arts & crafts, face painting, yummy food, and of course kites!
Participants can decorate biodegradable lunch bags and t-shirts, as well as create capes, tutus, bracelets and more. If you like gardening, you can even plant flowers! PS 132 is thrilled to welcome The Painted Cloud as a kite-making sponsor. They will host a booth where participants can make their own biodegradable kites.
The “legendary New York brass ensemble” Hungry March Band will lead a parade up Kent Avenue to State River Park, welcoming everyone to the event. The student performers will then take the stage. The lineup for the afternoon includes the PS 132 Band (Grades 3 -5), its Talent Show (Grades 1-5), and TADA! Show (2nd Grade). Guests performers include the IS 318 Jazz Band (Grades 6-8), MS 577 Guitar Club (Grades 6-8), parent David Foster (of critically acclaimed NY band Bubble), and Brooklyn sax quartet The Side Project.
This is a free event and is open to the general public. All proceeds from food sales, silent auction and general donations will benefit PS 132.
