If ever there was a site that lured you into loving reading books, it’s the New York Review Books‘. The curation, boldness, and interest level of each bound work of art is so inspiring, that you’ll want to treasure every one. Perhaps you’ve seen the red-spined volumes at your favorite bookstore, or noticed their quality? It’s the kind of site that you can (and should) check everyday, for enrichment and daily articles. As a parent, their Children’s Collection is of monumental quality, and should be a go-to resource for your kids’ literature. If you’ve ever read “Foxie,” or any of the d’Aulaire’s books , then you are aware of the imaginative, deep, rich, and creative storylines they write and illustrate, which is the level that the NYRB represents for all of its writers. In this age of internet everything, an actual book needs to be important and of quality, which is why this site is imperative now for our families! Rumer Godden, Otfried Preussler (of “The Little Witch“), J.P. Martin, Frank Tashlin, and Rhoda Levine (who partnered with Edward Gorey for “Three Ladies Beside the Sea“) are just some of the many genius writers represented. There’s something for every age and interest (including a special offers section, which has great deals on high quality literature in groupings, so that you can expose yourself to an experience and genre that most interests you… for instance, how cool would the Ghost Stories Collection be for Halloween?). There’s a 1930’s Europe Collection and in honor of our Big Apple, a New York Novels Collection. Check out the two Children’s paperbacks on sale this week, to start your addiction and adventure down the NYRB rabbit hole! Have fun.
