On the NYC Department of Education website, you can find everything you need to read about the upcoming Gifted and Talented tests. Handbooks are available in English and nine other languages, while if your child is already at a Pre-K program, printed handbooks should be there. The request for testing is open now until November 9, 2015.
As the website states:
Gifted & Talented (G&T) programs are one way that the NYC Department of Education supports the needs of exceptional students. G&T programs aim to deliver accelerated, rigorous, and specialized instruction aligned to Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS). Students entering kindergarten through third grade are eligible to participate in G&T admissions. Children must pass an assessment to be eligible to apply to G&T programs. There are two types of G&T programs:
- District G&T programs. These are located in district elementary schools; they begin in kindergarten and end in the school’s terminal grade.
- Citywide G&T programs. These admit students from all boroughs without district-based priority.
Read the G&T handbooks and the Score Report FAQs for details about G&T programs and admissions. You can also sign up for G&T email updates.
