Take the kids and their costumes to Subway Shindig for Families: Halloween Central Station at the New York Transit Museum, Celebrate Halloween & Día de los Muertos at the Children’s Museum of the Arts, the Giant Pumpkin Display at the New York Botanical Garden, littleBits Challenge: Hack Your Halloween! at the Central Brooklyn Public Library, Halloween Spooktacular at the Kensington Brooklyn Public Library and Hansel and Gretel’s Halloween Adventure at The Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre.

Monday October 26th

Sing Along with Yo Re Mi at Tykes in the Heights (Prospect Heights)
Mondays at 10a.  $10/child.  Join us for fun and silly original songs, familiar favorites, dancing and movement, all with live music. Everyone will want to get in on the fun! All ages.

Celebrate Halloween & Día de los Muertos at the Children’s Museum of the Arts (SOHO)
Monday October 26th 12n-5p.  Free with paid admission.  Help us celebrate Halloween and Día de Los Muertos at CMA! Visit CMA from October 26 through November 1 for Da de Los Muertos inspired workshops throughout the museum! Create sugar skull and altars at the Clay Bar, create your own Día de Los Muertos inspired self-portrait in the Fine Arts Studio, create your own skeleton drawing inspired by Mr. Bones the skeleton, and more! Also, join us for a special Halloween parades through the museum on Thursday, October 29 from 4-6 PM! Costumes are encouraged or create your own mask in Fine Arts to wear during the parade!

Create Your Own Mini Books at the Brooklyn Public Library (Carrroll Gardens)
Monday October 26th 330-5p.  Free.   Ages 5+.  R.S.V.P. to etraubman@gmail.com
Led by literacy tutor Eleanor Traubman. Grade school children who love to doodle, make up and share stories will treasure this chance to write and illustrate their own mini book!

Tuesday October 27th

Giant Pumpkin Display at the New York Botanical Garden
Tuesday October 27th 10a-6p and ongoing until November 1st.  See website for hours.  Free with paid admission.  Giant pumpkins from North America once again arrive at the Garden, arranged in collaboration with the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth. See how you measure up against these giants, some weighing more than a ton!

Mommy & Me at Chabad of DUMBO
Tuesdays 10-11a.  Free.  This program will be for Mothers and Children 0-2 years old.  Dumbo Mommies are you looking to connect with other mothers in the neighborhood?  Chabad of Dumbo has A Mommy and me program that will enable mothers and their babies from across the neighborhood to meet, socialize, learn and create a community.  This program is held in a warm, clean and safe environment. Esther, the Director of the Dumbo Gan and mother of six will share a short teaching and parenting insight distilled from Jewish tradition to lend wisdom, perspective and guidance into parenting. Additionally on a bi-weekly basis there will be a selection of different baby classes and presentations including baby yoga and massage, the latest baby products and toys, as well as nutritional and health tips by neighborhood professionals, merchants and parents.

Parents’ Meetings for Older Babies at Bend & Bloom Yoga (Park Slope)
Tuesdays 11a-1230p.  Cost is $15.  Led by Jennette Selig or guest facilitators.  This weekly get together is for moms and babies from 9 to 18 months. While babes crawl and scoot around, parents can explore issues arising as their baby grows into tots. Each session will have a specific topic but there will be time to address individual needs and concerns. Meetings are drop-in so come each week or whenever you can! You are welcome to bring snacks or lunch for you and your baby, every Tuesday.  10/27 topic: Parenting Advice & Other Noise: Taking It In and Letting It Go.  There is also a Parents’ Meeting for Younger Babies on Tuesdays at 1230p.  See website for more information.

Wednesday October 28th

Stroller Strides® in Carroll Park
Wednesdays 10-11a.  1 visit free and then $25. Also can pay $200 for 10 visits.  Valid for 10 classes with no expiration.
Stroller Strides is a total fitness program that moms can do with their babies. It includes power walking and intervals of strength and body toning exercises using exercise tubing, the stroller and the environment. Taught by certified and specially trained fitness instructors, it is a great workout for any level of exerciser. Stroller Strides instructors weave songs and activities into the routine designed to entertain and engage baby, while moms are led through a series of exercises specific to her role as mom.  We meet in the center of Carroll Park by the statue.

Story Time with PJ Library at Museum of Jewish Heritage (Battery Park)
Wednesday October 28th from 330-415p.  Free—Drop-In.  Dates of future Story Times: November 11, December 2 and 16, January 6 and 20, February 3 and 17, March 2, 16, and 30, April 13, May 4 and 18, June 1.  Come hear warm, whimsical tales about traditions, holidays, and families from some of today’s best storybooks for children ages 0-4.

littleBits Challenge: Hack Your Halloween! at the Central Brooklyn Public Library
Wednesday October 28th 4-5p.  Free.  For kids and teens.  Location: Youth Wing.  Use littleBits to invent a costume or prank, then create a a scary movie featuring your masterpiece. Thursday October 29th

Lovely Lisha & her Music Makers at A Shoe Grows in Brooklyn (South Slope)
Thursdays 10-1030a.  $5 suggested donation.  Drop-in.  Music Lovers Rejoice! “Lovely Lisha & her Music Makers” music class is back — toddlers/babies love this music/movement time!

Subway Shindig for Families: Halloween Central Station at the New York Transit Museum (Downtown Brooklyn)
Thursday October 29th 6-8p.  For all ages. $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and children ages 2-17. Free for Museum Members.  Get all dressed up for an evening of imaginative, subway-themed family fun in the Museum with face painting, a “glow zone,” and shadow puppet play!  Purchase tickets here.

Halloween Spooktacular at the Brooklyn Public Library (Kensington)
Thursday October 29th 6-645p.  Free.  The ghosts and goblins of Kensington Branch invite you to have a spooktacular time as we share stories of spooks and spirits. Costumes welcome.

Play Time at Play Kids (Prospect Lefferts Gardens)
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 1-3p.  $10/child.  For ages 0-3y.  Open Play sessions offer a fun and affordable way to get together with other children and parents/caregivers. Children share playtime with age-appropriate toys (balls, cars, blocks, puzzles) while building connections with each other. Save money by buying a Class Pass, one free class and bring a friend.

WEE Arts Drop-in Session at the Children’s Museum of the Arts (South Village)
Monday-Friday: 1045a-12p & Wednesdays 145-3p, $25 per family ($20 for members).  Want to stay longer? General admission is just $6 per person after drop-in.  Music time! Story time! Art time! Join CMA’s WEE teaching artists for an art-filled drop-in session before we open our doors to the public. Parent and/or caregivers are required to join and we encourage family collaboration throughout the class. No sign up required.

Kids’ Discovery Stations at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden (Crown Heights)
Tuesday-Friday 1015a-1230p  until November 6th.  Free with Garden admission (Garden admission free on Tuesdays).  This docent-led, drop-in program is for families with children of all ages as well as camp groups. Get your hands dirty at kids’ Discovery stations throughout the Garden. Investigate a mystery plant, hold a water plant and learn how it floats, or go on a pollinator hunt in the meadow! All programs are outdoors and canceled in inclement weather; for updates, call 718-623-7200, ext. 7801.

Playgroup at Bija Kids (Clinton Hill)
Monday-Thursday 330-5p until May 29, 2016.  For ages 0-3y.  Drop-in – $15 first child/$7 additional child or 10 pack/10 visits $120 or $200 (family of 2 or more children pack).  Packs expire 3 months of date of purchase.  After a nap and lunch, but before bath and dinner, come to hang out and play with other 0-3 year olds at Bija​. With parents or caregivers present, little ones explore puzzles, instruments, books, and plush toys in a warm, safe, and enriching environment. One our our dynamic teachers leads an enrichment activity each afternoon 430-5p. Expect bubbles, parachute, paint, and more!  Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis.  Bija has a changing table and child size toilets perfect for potty training!  There is stroller parking but please fold up the strollers to accommodate all the families.  Playgroup requires that a parent or caregiver be present within the space.  Register one time only here.

Hansel and Gretel’s Halloween Adventure at The Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre
Tuesday-Fridays 1030a & 12n; additional show on Wednesdays at 230p and weekends at 1p until October 31st.  See website for more information.  Ticket prices are: $7/children under 12, $10/all others.  Hansel and Gretel’s Halloween Adventure picks up where the original Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre production leaves off; with the pair’s pet swan Samantha flying the children back to their humble home after their wild escapade in the forest.  Safely back at home during the Halloween season; Hansel and Gretel experience the most vivid dreams where Central Park and the Belvedere Castle serve as the backdrop for a magical explosion of music, dance and exciting encounters with a host of lovable characters. The brother and sister team once again embark on an adventure where beautiful mermaids, adorable monsters, swashbuckling pirates, charming vampires and a fabulous witch all intertwine for one unforgettable Halloween night in New York City.

Sensory Room Family Hours at Brooklyn Children’s Museum (Crown Heights)
Tuesdays & Thursdays & Saturday-Sunday 2-445p.  For all ages. Free with museum admission.  The Sensory Room is an inclusive space where children of all abilities can engage with their peers and explore their senses. This room provides a welcoming environment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Play Space at LuLu’s then & now (Park Slope/Gowanus)
Daily (excluding holidays) from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.  Please allow us time between 1pm and 2pm for maintenance.  Rates: $12 per session (10am-1pm or 2pm to 5pm) for the first child and $6 for siblings. Or, purchase a 10-pack for $105.  Admission to events at the Play Space is on first come first serve basis.  Our Play Space is a beautiful room filled with innovative, stimulating, modern toys and a well curated library for your tot to explore, imagine and create with.  Please review the rules here before coming to the Play Space.

Playtimes at Norman & Jules (Park Slope)
Mondays 930-530p & Tuesday-Fridays 930a-3p September & October.  $12/first child, additional child $6.  Package 10 for $108.  Our backyard is intended for ages 6m to 5y.  We do not offer drop-offs.  Caregivers must be with their children at all times.
