The holiday season is coming, and whether you plan to give back by donating time, money, or both, we at A Child Grows are always on the lookout for good ways to be charitable. Why not turn one of your own nights of entertaining and cooking into a way to help, as well? Everyone involved will feel great about the cause! No Kid Hungry is launching a new and fun fundraising initiative this year called Friendsgiving, that will not only be really great for you to do, but will make Thanksgiving a good one more lots of children this year. Right now, 1 in 5 kids aren’t sure where their next meal is coming from. And when Thanksgiving dinner can cost an average of $49, many kids are also missing out on the day that brings joy to so many friends and family. No Kid Hungry has set a goal for all hosts to raise $490. Why $490? Because the average Thanksgiving dinner costs $49. So even if you have as few as ten people attend your event, as long as each can make a gift of $49, you can easily hit your goal. For every $10 donated, No Kid Hungry can connect a child in need to 100 meals. To show their appreciation, No Kid Hungry will give everyone who raises $490 or more a free copy of renowned author Mark Bittman’s cookbook “How to Cook Everything.” If readers need ideas of how to host the best Friendsgiving yet, No Kid Hungry has dedicated a Friendsgiving pinterest page to décor, table ideas, recipes, hosting tips, and more!
They have also created a resource center, with a checklist of Friendsgiving necessities, name card templates, No Kid Hungry fact cards, and top fundraising incentives to encourage Friendsgiving invitees to give back.
